Baby Showers

Right now, I'm enjoying N and Steve as much as I can.  The weather outside has been priceless, and even though N has had a cold it has been warmer outside than inside giving us another excuse to go out.

It's this time of life in which is seems like everyone is having kids.  I look around and all I can see are pregnant women or new moms.  At first is was weird.  "Did everyone drink the same water?" I would think as I sat down in a restaurant to eat and three other pregnant women would walk in.  But now that N (stands for Nolan), has been born I can't help but get happy feelings for those expecting or even as I look at blogs like nonchalant mom, I can't help but wonder what our family would be like with another baby.

As of right now, some of my best friends, and sister-in-law are expecting.  I'm helping with two of the showers.  (caution: women working together).  I really want to make these showers fun and most of all stress relievers.  I remember being six or seven months along and wondering how I was going to prepare for N.  It was nerve wrecking because you didn't know what you were doing, and in the back of your mind there is that nagging reminder not to go out and buy everything BECAUSE there is a shower over the horizon.

One friend is already questioning her purchases.  "Am I buying too much?  I don't want to over buy, but at the same time what if I don't get what I need from the shower?!"   Weighted questions all.

So, how do you make a shower a stress reliever?  Registering does its part but how can you help it along?  I really don't know but there has to be some way to help with the over bearing nesting hormones.  If you have any ideas please let me know.
